Ulsan is one of great port cities in South Korea. I had the opportunity to visit Hyundai Heavy Industries that builds ships. It was really amazing for a ship crew like me, especially to see those Goliath cranes. They have Asan Memorial Hall as remembrance of the founder, Chung Ju Yung. He has remarkable principal of life: “you should try your very best before relying on fortune or supernatural forces in order to succeed.” It’s written in Hanja (Chinese character) in his memorial hall. I’m not sure if they open it for public though.

There’s a Whale museum in Ulsan. If you’re a fan of seafood, you can even find some restaurants that sell whale meat. Ulsan is only an hour away by car to Gyeongju, which has a lot of historical sites.
